Red Dunes Games and Agate are pleased to announce that Zozo and the Lost Dreams will be on prominent display at The Tokyo Game Show. Inspired by classic Saturday morning cartoons, this nostalgic platformer-Metroidvania brings its charm, humour, and imagination vividly to life! Together with creative ideas from Sultan Al Darmaki (Red Dunes Games), working in collaboration with Agate Studio, he has guided the concept throughout development!
Zozo and the Lost Dreams follows Zozo, a 13-year-old boy with one big dream: to become a superhero. With the help of his brilliant but eccentric neighbour, Professor Aisha, Zozo builds an extraordinary machine that can transport him into his dreams, bringing the adventures he has always imagined to life.
But when a mysterious incident leaves Zozo trapped inside the dream world, his fantasy becomes a very real adventure. To find his way home, he must journey through a series of vibrant, unpredictable worlds, tackle bizarre challenges, battle strange enemies, and unlock new abilities along the way.

One thing that really stands out is the game’s unique visual style, which combines pixel-art sprites with rasterized environments. This visual approach supports the development goal of taking the charm and exaggerated feel of classic cartoons and modernizing it for a contemporary audience. Another standout feature is the knockback mechanic: when you attack an enemy, they can bounce off and collide with other enemies, creating a chain reaction that feels almost like a pinball or bowling effect. This adds a playful, chaotic, and distinctly cartoonish feel to the combat.
